Q & A

As a child growing up, music surrounds us. What type of music did you hear the most back then? How does it differ from what you listen to now?

02.01.18

I heard a variety of music while growing up. My parents both sang gospel and played Motown records around the house. I was also heavily influenced by my older brother’s musical collection. I remember old K-Tel compilations having everything from Wild Cherry, The Silvers and Bill Conti compositions. I’m still heavily into a variety of music. I like to listen to the hair metal bands of the '90s and many new current pop acts. I still like a variety of music.

Describe your show visually and musically.

02.01.18

Visually, I would say the J. Black show consists of a high energy frontman that parades around the stage doing my very best to draw in and engage my audience. An example would be David Lee Roth fused with John Legend. Musically, you should be prepared for a soulful and moving sound somewhere between smooth and sexy all the way up to wild and on fire!
