Q & A

How do you describe your interviews to people?

02.01.18

FIRE! Fame by the Flame is a premier ad-lib-style music interview segment that highlights the artists that are hot in the music scene.

Name a pet peeve.

02.01.18

Be about it, don’t just talk about it. I can’t stand when people don’t take responsibility for the hand they have in creating their own destiny. Any action is movement toward progress, and inaction is an active decision.

What did you want to be when you were 7?

02.01.18

Believe it or not, I wanted to be a forensic psychologist. The thought of understanding a crime through the mind of the criminal fascinated me. I guess that’s why I now do interviews. I like to uncover the women and men behind the music. It’s fun to discover what makes each artist produce the music that they do and dissect how they create a sound that is signature to them.

What drives you to keep interviewing even though the music industry can be so harsh?

02.01.18

My motivating factor is to spotlight artists that are incredibly talented and relevant in the music scene. Specifically, I want to spark peoples’ interest with hip-hop and electronic musicians. My ultimate desire is for Fame by the Flame viewers to connect with the personae of the people who create their favorite tracks.

What's a big media inspiration that would most surprise your fans?

02.01.18

VICE. I admire all the elements of the company and how they find a way to make their content popular with the masses while differentiating themselves from mainstream media.

What's something most of your friends don't know about you?

02.01.18

I’m a southern girl with a West Coast twist. I grew up in Alabama, then moved to California where I established my roots. On the regular, you can find me getting ready for a night out with a sweet tea in one hand and a shot of Hennessey in the other.

What's your favorite jam from the '90s?

02.01.18

I am a '90s baby, so it’s impossible to choose just one, but if I have to choose, I would say I’m a sucker for anything by the Spice Girls… I mean what girl isn’t.

What's your favorite local artist/group?

02.01.18

As a music media platform for artists, I try to remain impartial because there is truly something to love about every artist and group.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

02.01.18

Still in love with music and helping others to fall just as hard for it. I see myself being a leader in the music media scene as well as a role model, encouraging other female music journalists to pursue their passions.

Who is your secret star crush?

02.01.18

50 Cent. He was the first mainstream hip-hop artist I heard on the radio, on Hot 103.5 to be exact, when I moved from Alabama to California. For that, he will always be my O.G. music crush.

Words to live by?

02.01.18

Treat others as you would like to be treated. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
