Q & A

How did it first start?

02.06.20

It all came together late 2018. Rob (executive producer/creative director) and Andrew (director of video) have studio spaces above Two River Cider Co. Marco (social media) and Jared (keygrip/PA) recently moved to Northern California earlier that summer and joined Doug’s (audio engineer/graphics) group, Red Dirt Ruckus which also includes Rob on drums. Bre (producer/PA) came into the picture via her friends in Red Dirt and provides her experience in the financial sector.

Tell us about this creative project. What is it?

Cider Sessions is a YouTube channel that records live music performances in the loft of Two Rivers Cider Co. A new video is published every Tuesday at Youtube.com/cidersessions. We seeks to showcase the local talent here in Sacramento and occasionally get the touring musician that comes through our city. We want to build a community between the artists, helping create quality content they can use for their press kits, social media and personal outreach. We also enjoy featuring artists at our watch parties and upcoming festivals to furthur network and potentially use Cider Sessions as a catalyst that inspires future collaborations.

What's next for the group?

02.06.20

This year we’re planning a mini music festival May 3 at Two Rivers Cider Co. We do these sessions free of charge to the Artists but there are production costs associated with putting these sessions together. Vince Sterne (Two Rivers Cider Co.) has been gracious in providing his loft for us to record in, his delicious cider and for helping with food after the sessions. This year we looking to bring in other local businesses that would like to support the music community through Cider Sessions. These sponsorships would allow us to upgrade our cameras, lenses and other gear to put out even better looking videos, the recent trend is going to 4k and those cameras ain’t cheap!

What's next for you?

Our one-year anniversary watch party is happening May 3 at Two Rivers Cider Co. The line up is outstanding so far we have 11 local groups confirmed so far! Currently we have more bands scheduled to come in and shoot a session so we’re keeping busy!

What's the best part of this experience?

02.06.20

The post session hangout is great, we get to talk about lots of things musicians go through be it crazy gigs, travelling, the day job hustle. We’re also privileged to our own personal concert in an intimate setting just us and the band!

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

02.06.20

Our YouTube channel grow tenfold, thousands of videos published from incredible bands/singers/songwriters from our city and also throughout the country. We’d like to see the Cider Sessions brand established as a self sustaining production company that films, records, and produces hi-end audio and video content for live events, small and large music festivals, and the Sacramento community. Also, we want to throw rad parties … maybe a multiday music festival featuring our incredible lineup of CS alumni!
