Most of the band can agree that our all-time favorite song is Aphasia by Pinegrove because of the way it could flawlessly portray each of our own coming-of-age stories.

Sam and I (Malakhi) have been best friends as long as we've been playing in bands together, going through a bunch of name changes and a rotating cast of other members until we had Kelly, a friend since freshman year, join us in our junior year on harmonies. This was after we had lost our former drummer and were going through a transition from a power trio and acoustic trio. We still couldn't really drive the music's message home the way we wanted to, and later met Graven, our bassist, our senior year (his sophomore year) who was originally a Landline fan before we brought him in. We met our drummer, Will, at a Pinegrove show in SF and completely clicked. We all started playing together in June 2019, then started gigging in October and have been going as strong as possible ever since.

Our best gig was probably our first time at the Holy Diver. We had completely sold out all of our tickets, had a bunch more people coming, and everybody was amped the entire time. When we got on stage, there was really no fear. Just excitement. It was our first time with actual monitors and hearing ourselves the way the audience does, so it was also the first show my first words after weren't "was ___ too loud/quiet?" It gave all of us the confidence to really perform at our peak, and we can't wait to go back.

The most immediate goal in mind is to keep putting out music throughout the year and be ready to put together some sort of tour after all the music we have planned is released.

Probably the most surprising is the abundance of love we have for anything with a touch of funk to it. We can get down to anything if it's tight and in the pocket. Vulfpeck, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, even Hall & Oates.

We're currently working on a ton of singles and EPs to put out throughout the year.

The best part is definitely the expression in both ourselves and the people in the audience. There's nothing like being on stage, singing your heart out and seeing the song command the emotion of the room.

I was doodling in class when Sam pointed at two crossing right angles I had drawn and said, "Landline." It was really as simple as that, we want it to be left up for a lot of interpretation within both the name and the logo. It represents a crossing of paths, an opening, being grounded, on and on.
