Q & A

All-time favorite song?

02.08.19

Ice Cube "How We Do".

How do you describe your music to people?

02.08.19

My music is raw. It's not subtle. It's not reclusive. It's in your face, aligned with adversity and realness. Pain and pleasure on the same spectrum. It paints the picture of what people DON'T see on the surface of Sacramento.

Tell us about how you first started gigging.

02.08.19

First gig came from some family that heard my music and wanted to set up a show. I performed for literally 10 people in a smoke shop on Auburn Boulevard.

Tell us about your best gig in Sac.

02.08.19

So far it would have to be headlining First Festival. Definitely my biggest personal performance up to date and the first time I continuously performed for over an hour. It was tough, but I now know I am capable of controlling the crowd as needed for the full time as a headliner!

Tell us about your worst gig.

02.08.19

Any gig I've gotten has been a good thing. The worst gig I've gotten was either being told I can not perform after fulfilling my end of a contract, no gig at all.

What's next for you?

02.08.19

Tour, tour, tour!! The one way this city is surviving is because of artists in our city taking the music to the fans and supporters!

What's the story behind your stage name?

02.08.19

The name is quite simple. Charlie is directly from my first name and Muscle is the representation of my struggle manifested into perseverance.

What's your favorite local artist/group?

02.08.19

Any artist coming from Sacramento with enough patience and drive to keep going is my favorite.

Who are your biggest influences?

02.08.19

My children keep me going!

Who first inspired you to play music?

02.08.19

I used music as a journal for years, just as a method to escape the pain an 8-year-old should NEVER feel or be exposed to growing up in Oak Park. It turned into a way to tell the story from my point of view and from there, I kept going.
