Q & A

How do you describe your music to people?

02.01.18

We are alternative hip-hop, or alt hip-hop for short. We follow the lyrical structure of hip-hop but with a punk/rock kind of attitude. People have said that we are somewhere in between Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys and Nine Inch Nails. Our fans always tell us they have a hard time describing our sound to their friends, which is pretty neat. Originality in the music is hard to come by.

If you could be any character from history, who would it be?

02.01.18

James Dean in Live Fast, Die Young.

Name a pet peeve.

02.01.18

Inaudible lyrics in today's rap music aka "mumble raps."

Name a recent personal food trend.

02.01.18

Making food at home. Getting excited about cooking is definitely unexpected.

Tell us about your worst gig.

02.01.18

When we first started, we played a gig where only three people showed up, and two songs in our amp blew up. We agreed that it was nice to get the "worst gig" out of the way early in our career.

What artist or band are you a little embarrassed to love, and why?

02.01.18

Any number of current mainstream rap records that are catchy yet painfully simple. A repetitive track that just gets stuck in your head for two to three days at a time. Love/hate thing for sure.

What did you want to be when you were 7?

02.01.18

Tyrannosaurus rex or a professional ice cream taster.

What drives you to keep playing even though the music industry can be so harsh?

02.01.18

There's a certain feeling that comes with creating music. It's very rewarding and also very challenging.

What was the first song you learned to play?

02.01.18

“Zombie Tundra.” The song was written about 14 years ago when Brod and I first started making music together. Our drummer Joe actually wrote the drum part as a fan for fun way before he joined the band. Years later, it's one of our most popular songs during the live shows.

What's a big musical inspiration that would most surprise your fans?

02.01.18

Gorillaz, a band that blends different types of genres together into their own unique style. We really like hybrid sound/style bands in general and definitely identify as one ourselves.

What's something most of your friends don't know about you?

02.01.18

Our friends know everything. We are quite shameless.

What's your favorite jam from the '90s?

02.01.18

“Inside Out” by Eve 6. Such an iconic track that for us captures that '90s spirit.

What's your favorite local artist/group?

02.01.18

Total Recall. Amazing '90s cover band that plays all the memorable songs from our teen years, and they play them well.

Who is your secret star crush?

02.01.18

Taylor Perry Gomez.

You're given a magic wand. What do you do with it?

02.01.18

Bring back Tupac and Biggie so we can make an album with them called Reanimation Collaboration.
