Q & A

All-time favorite song?

02.04.19

"Tarantula" by Pendulum (just because this is the track that made me fall in love with electronic music).

How do you describe your music to people?

02.04.19

Energetic, groovy and full of life!

Tell us about how you first started gigging.

02.04.19

I kept entering DJ contests for local events! cough*raves*cough.

Tell us about your best gig in Sac.

02.04.19

It`s hard to pick just one... I`ve shared really memorable moments with National Entity, ESM, Requiem Events, and Hybrid Events in the past!

Tell us about your worst gig.

02.04.19

Haha I`d rather not. I`ve played in a storage container before...

What artist or band are you a little embarrassed to love, and why?

02.04.19

It seems to shock people that I love Nicki Minaj!

What's next for you?

02.04.19

I am planning on releasing more music and staying very consistent with it. 2019 is all about being creative and really defining what Czechmate sounds like. Also, playing new venues, releasing new merch, devoting time to my YouTube channel, Czechmate Radio, and more, so stay tuned!

What's the story behind your stage name?

02.04.19

I am from Czech Republic, so Czechmate made sense to me. I was like, "Yes, this will be my name," and here I am!

What's your favorite local artist/group?

02.04.19

Kassette, Nay Jay, Toa5t.

Who are your biggest influences?

02.04.19

Don Diablo, Felguk, KSHMR, Will Sparks, Tiesto, TJR, Oliver Heldens, Tchami... There are SO many though!

Who first inspired you to play music?

02.04.19

I have always been involved in music in some type of way ever since I can remember. From dance competitions, to theater and choir, so literally as long as I can remember I knew I wanted to be some type of entertainer. When I was about 14 years old, my sister suggested I learn to mix so I can be a DJ. A few years passed, and I was able to buy myself a legit DJ controller then taught myself how to beat match and mix in my garage. Haha I was really bad though... I suppose from then I just wanted to be on stage, directing the crowds emotions with every song. Not to mention the adrenaline rush and burst of positive energy I get with every performance is the reason why I continue to pursue this... I really love it!!

Words to live by?

This too shall pass.
