Tell us about how the band formed.

02.04.19

Deiy Leone and Jordan Kalé met through a mutual musician friend, Zyah Belle. They formed a group/artist collective entitled “RedCupLeague.” The group later disbanded after creative differences with an indie label. Deiy and Jordan were the two left standing. They decided to continue their musical journey together. The two eventually became Ode To Saturday.

We performed at a Fashion Show thrown by Nia Joe at Sol Collective in 2015. That was our best show because it was the first time we ever performed with a band as Ode To Saturday. Sol Collective is one of our favorite places to perform because it is very intimate, yet you feel as if you are rocking a stadium. The vibe was crazy. A man who brought a staff with him was taken by the spirit of Saturday dancing all over the room. Both of our families were in the audience cheering us on, and some of our great friends were in our band.

Tell us about your worst gig.

02.04.19

We performed at a nightclub with a band. The sound was awful. Our mics were not working at all. We all pushed through our set. However, no one heard a word we sung.

What artist or band are you a little embarrassed to love, and why?

02.04.19

No one we are embarrassed by, but a few artists that we love that may throw people off are: Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera.

What was the first song you learned to play?

02.04.19

The first song we sang together was an unreleased record written by Deiy Leone called “Sleepwalking.” That's when we realized we had natural chemistry together.

What's next for the band?

02.04.19

We have an EP dropping March 24 titled Last Saturday Night, then an album is next.

What's the story behind the band name?

02.04.19

Saturday is everyone’s favorite day of the week. So we figured, why not pay homage to this day. Everyone waits for Saturday to be their truest self, let their hair down and do what they want. So we encourage everyone not to wait for Saturday to be themselves, be yourself everyday. Live everyday like it’s Saturday.
