Q & A

As a child growing up, music surrounds us. What type of music did you hear the most back then?

02.16.20

Growing up, I loved to listen to whatever my parents listened to. A lot of the time, it was stuff like The Eagles, James Taylor, Bread, Chicago, Eric Clapton, etc. Also, as a youngin' I had older siblings that loved to listen to hip-hop, R&B, Techno and house music. I would say nowadays, I pretty much listen to anything and everything!

Can you describe a moment in your career, where you felt like you truly reached somebody or made a difference?

02.16.20

One day, my friend had randomly texted me telling me that she was listening to a voice memo I had sent her of one of my original songs. She told me that she started crying while listening to it. She told me that she truly believed in my music and that she listens to my music when she’s going through tough times. It really touched my heart when she told me that.

Favorite colors?

02.16.20

Black. Like my soul. Haha! But, really. I like maroon, olive green, blue, red and did I say black?

How did it first start?

02.16.20

It all started in church because my parents forced me to sing when I was little. I absolutely hated it. But, now music is everything to me! Thanks mom and dad!

How do you describe your interviews to people?

02.16.20

Ummm nerve-racking and awkward!

Is there a central theme to your music?

02.16.20

Life experience. Love, heartbreak, depression and anxiety.

Tell us about your best gig in Sac.

02.16.20

I opened for Ella Mai at Sac State and played a half-time show for the Sacramento Kings. I couldn’t even begin to describe how amazing those two gigs were. Let’s just say, that’s about the most nervous I’ve been in my entire life.

What are your musical goals?

02.16.20

Currently, my musical goals are to release music, write and collaborate with other artists.

What do you sing in the shower? (Be honest.)

02.16.20

Songs I’m trying to learn for gigs. Haha!

What drives you to keep playing even though the music industry can be so harsh?

02.16.20

Music is just what I love to do. It fuels my soul. It keeps me going. It’s what keeps me sane. I could never stop.

What message do you hope to give with your music?

02.16.20

It’s OK to be vulnerable, raw, passionate and true to yourself.

What’s your favorite song to perform live right now?

02.16.20

My Original "Say Goodbye" or "Best Part" by Daniel Caesar Ft. H.E.R.

Who first inspired you to play music?
